Victoria looked at her watch and frowned. Alison was being a long time "We'll give her five more minutes" said Victoria.
"She's probably just being nosy" said Emily "You know what she's like."
"I know, but we can't take that chance. We've got no idea who's in that house, nor what they're doing" said Victoria.
"Can't you just phone her?" asked Angela.
"No sweety" said Victoria "I forgot to tell her to switch the sound off on her phone, and I doubt she remembered. If she hasn't it could get her into a lot of trouble."
"She can always phone us if she gets into trouble" said Amy.
"If she gets the chance" said Paul.
"What are we going to do?" asked Ben "We can't let her get caught by those horrible girls, not after what they did to you."
"We're going to wait sweety, a few more minutes, and while we're waiting we're going to think about a plan" said Victoria.
"What if she's in trouble now?" said Ben sounding worried.
"We still need to plan darling, let's act with a cool head, whatever we do" said Victoria "Let's start with what we can't do. Communication's out, unless someone can think of something clever?"
Everyone stared at the floor and thought for a moment, and then one by one they shook their heads.
"Okay, so we need to know what's going on in the house, just like we did when we sent Alison in. I suggest we mount another reconnaissance mission" said Victoria.
"I'll go" said Ben.
"No darling, we'll all go" said Victoria "If they have got Alison, they might be expecting trouble and we don't want them picking us off one at a time."
"We'll have to be careful they don't see us" said Emily.
"How are we going to get close to the house? There are too many of us, if anyone's watching..." said Paul.
Victoria sighed "The front of the house is too risky, if they're watching they'll be watching there. Let's see if we can find a way in the back."
"Down the alley?" asked Paul.
"It's got to be worth a try" said Victoria.
"Okay, let's do it" said Paul getting up from the bench and heading across the front of the shops towards the alley. Everyone else followed along behind, with Victoria taking up a position just behind Paul.
"She'll be alright" said Paul "She's a tough cookie."
"I know" said Victoria "It's Emily and Ben you need to be reassuring."
"And you" he said "You might not show it, but I know you worry."
"Silly bugger" said Victoria, patting him playfully on the bottom.
As they reached the opening to the alley they ducked down slightly to stay below the level of the hedge which was slightly lower near the entrance. Once the hedge rose up tall they stood and hurried along, examining the hedge as they went. As they approached the very back of the garden Paul stopped "Here" he said "It's a bit sparse, someone small might be able to get through."
"I'll do it" said Ben.
"Ben, you've got to be careful" said Victoria "Don't get caught!"
